Milton Council's Annual New Year's Day Levee
January 1, 2020 Milton Town Hall 1pm - 3pm
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! The Town of Milton Council is hosting a New Year's Day Levee on Wednesday January 1st from 1 to 3 pm at Milton Town Hall (150 Mary Street). Residents are warmly invited to come and exchange New Year's wishes with Mayor Gord Krantz and Councillors. Enjoy tasty desserts (courtesy of La Rose Specialty Foods and Fine Italian Bakery - Milton, Ontario ), finger foods and fresh coffee (provided by Tim Hortons) as your Councillors cheerfully serve you! As a special treat, we have live music this year too from none other than Justin Tesser and Diana Tesser! PS: We are partnering with MCRC's Fill-a-Crib campaign. Donations of diapers, infant formula and feminine hygiene products will be greatly appreciated!

A special treat awaits you and your family - once the hustle and bustle of the day is over and you have time to relax and enjoy the school holiday with your family. Step back in time to 1899 to see how an early settler family celebrated the season. You will learn about why and how some of the traditions started and continue to this day. There will be house tours, crafts, refreshments, music and story time. Plan to spend around 2 hours enjoying all the activities. No additional charge to participate -- after purchase of park daily vehicle permit. Food and beverages are extra. This event is supported by the Friends of Bronte Creek Park.

This is a full fair of free offerings including a performance by Atom Cianfarani featuring their Operate With Less (OWL) handmade styrofoam shredding machine, a newly commissioned dance/aerobic work by Joaquin Wall, a sonic intervention by Adee Roberson, zine-making with Tara Bursey, hands-on learning and building with BurlingtonGreen, upcycling plastic toys with the Tiny Toy Company, and bumping beats from DJ Smooth Transitions and DJ Donna Lovejoy.

With 99 vendors in Milton to choose from, this market has something for everyone. There is a great selection of products such as produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, coffee and wine. The Winter Market also feature specialty items including hot sauce, salad dressing, popcorn, kombucha and meat pies.

Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup 2020
January 24 - 26, 2020 Mattamy National Cycling Centre
This event is composed of a qualifying round being a flying start 200 m time trial that determines the composition of the 1/16-finals consisting of knockout heats of 2 riders (the first is against the last, the second against the penultimate, etc.). Each won duel allows the athlete to continue the tournament until the finals. From the ¼ finals, the duels are on a best of three heats basis. After the slow start and a cat and mouse game, the pace picks up. The rider following behind has the benefit of being able to surprise the front rider if he/she can time his/her acceleration from 35 km/h to 70 km/h to gain a few lengths on the opponent.

The Upper Credit Humane society book and puzzle sale is set for January 25, 2020, from 9: 30am - 5:00pm. Drop by the Georgetown Market Place to pick up some great winter reading material or some puzzles. Funds raised help support the animals in our care. Donations of books and puzzles are appreciated between Jan. 1 and Jan. 24. Drop them off any time at 11 Edith Street, Georgetown. Email fundraising@uppercredit.com to make arrangements for pick up.

The 2020 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships are coming to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ontario from January 30 to February 2, 2020. Paralympic medal hopefuls from Canada and around the world will compete for the world champion rainbow jersey across endurance and sprint categories. With an exciting and unique atmosphere, concessions and local beer, an expo and vendors area, and breathtaking world-class bike racing, para track worlds promise to be a can't miss event.
