Community Events, Fundraisers and Family Activities in Milton and Halton Region for December 2018

2018 is nearing it's end and 2019 is around the corner! Here are some great events to help you get through your Christmas shopping, give back to the community and end 2018 with a bang!

Holiday Market

December 1 & 8  Downtown Milton  12pm - 7pm

The Holiday Street Market returns to Downtown Milton on Main Street. We'll have over 250 vendors of the two Saturdays. There will be a ton of activities to do, from taking pictures at the NEW 50 foot light tunnel, roasting marshmallows over wood-burning fire pits, playing in Santa's Workshop, to tasting all the comfort food you can eat and of course, shopping!!!
 

Christmas Open House

December 2, 2018  Milton Christian School  2:30pm - 5pm

Come on in our doors are open! Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of Christmas festivities - all are welcome! We'll have a photographer taking snapshots in the lobby, Crockadoodle on site to paint ornaments and tiles with visitors (paid items), free facepainting, a pop-up shop in the gym with local vendors to shop with, and we're transforming the chapel space into a holiday cafe with Christmas music and cookie decorating for the kids! Fun, carols, fellowship! Bring a guest, or 3!

 

The Magic of Christmas Shopping Social

Our once a year shopping extravaganza featuring a curated group of some amazing LOCAL artisans combining their craftmanship all under one roof. With the busiest season of the year nearly upon us, we hope to make your shopping a little easier in our newly renovated two level shop in Historic Downtown Milton. We are excited to be hosting our 8th annual MAGIC of CHRISTMAS Shopping Social. We would love for you and your friends to join us!
 

Social Mixer - Milton, Ontario

December 6, 2018  Julie Rock Photography  7pm - 9pm

Meet & connect with fellow Mompreneur® members and guests, to learn, connect and grow together – there is no cost to attend! Hosted by Elite+ Mompreneur member Julie Rock of Julie Rock Photography. Julie will be collecting items for Shifra Homes, a maternity residence and resource centre located in Burlington, Ontario that supports young, homeless, pregnant women in the Halton Region. Each year for the past 3 years, Julie Rock Photography has been helping to give the moms and babes of Shifra Homes a special Christmas, with generous donations from family, friends, and clients. Currently there is a Mom expecting a little girl, and a Mom with a 5-month-old baby girl who we are collecting items for. We ask that all attendees please bring an item that we can collect and put towards donations for the women and children of Shifra Homes this Christmas

 

Holiday Magic & Market

December 7, 2018  Downtown Georgetown  3pm - 10pm

Snuggle up under the twinkle light tents & enjoy the best flavours of the season with hot chocolate, apple cider, freshly pulled maple taffy and tasty treats from our participating businesses. Wander over to Knox Church for a seasonal selection from the farmers market then enjoy a traditional horse & wagon ride through downtown as it gets lit up for Christmas! The highlight of the evening will be our old fashioned tree lighting with Christmas Carols by the Georgetown Choral Society and a Christmas Window display competition featuring the Downtown businesses!

Modern Holiday Sphere- Make and Take Class

December 9, 2018  Crawford's Garden Centre  11am - 12:30pm

This new class is a wonderful modern take on the traditional centrepiece! You can hang or place this beautiful display in any setting! We will arrange holiday evergreens, waterproof berries, pinecones and a candle to create this stunning piece. Miracle on Main Street

“The objective of Miracle on Main Street is to promote the spirit of giving among all faiths,” says Tiger Jeet Singh Jr., President of Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation. “Sickness and poverty do not discriminate; neither should the spirit of giving.”  Breakfast will be served, amusement rides will be enjoyed, carols will be sung, autographs and pictures will be taken with wrestling’s living legend Tiger Jeet Singh, former WWE wrestling superstar Tiger Ali Singh, members of the Maple Leaf Alumni and players from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Town dignitaries along with members from the Halton Regional Police Service and Milton Fire Department will be on hand to show their support!

Join us for a unique celebration of the holidays - farm style! Rockwood and area farmers will entertain with their equipment decked in thousands of lights.

43rd Annual Campbellville Country Christmas Parade

December 16, 2018  Main St N Campbellville  1:30pm - 3:30pm

We believe this event to be the true heart of the season. This rural parade is very much a community endeavour. Floats and entries come from many local and area businesses, plus community groups such as Scouts, Guides, local service clubs, schools, churches and even local households. Children and parents will be able to meet Santa and his elves after the parade at St. David's Church, Main Street, Campbellville - where gifts, hot drinks and snacks will be available.

Winter Sleigh Rides

Don’t let winter keep you inside! At Mountsberg Conservation Area we invite you to join us on a horse-drawn sleigh ride through a winter wonderland. You will arrive at a roaring bonfire rosy-cheeked and ready for a tasty marshmallow roast. What a perfect way to get outside and enjoy winter with friends and family! Make a day of it by picking up a hot chocolate in the gift shop and then visiting with the park’s resident birds of prey, bison, and farm animals, followed by a visit to the play barn.
